The Doctor's office Experience: unlocking Student potential
"I attended AP 1 during the Summer which happens to be a 5-week accelerated course. To further complicate my learning process I had a lecturer that was not interested in carrying the class along. She read straight from the slides and answered questions reluctantly requesting us to go carry out our research about the topic after class individually if we were confused. So, there were no illustrations to accompany all the concepts she was introducing. It was like a flash of lightning.
Joining the Doctors office helped me put the pieces i learned in class together because he gave practical illustrations and examples I could relate to. Dr. Douglas equally taught at each and everyone's level using examples we all could relate to. This made retention of the concept easy and retrieval during exams a breeze!
Another important take away from his class was the format to answering questions, he insisted that the answers should be comprehension-based leaving no room for guessing. I implemented this concept when I had my next lab exam and I got a 90 out of 100 points. So the concepts works like magic.
I must equally admit that apart from the educational support I got in this class I equally got psychological and emotional support. My case was unique because two days until the end of the class I withdraw from the class out because of burnout. I remember him encouraging me to request for a reinstatement into the class but at the same time supporting my decision to withdraw. My supposed lecturer did not even respond to my email nor acknowledge my struggles when she saw me in person in class the next day.
I thank God I listened to Dr. Douglas and got reinstated because I passed the class with a B! The Doctors office was instrumental to my success and I will be eternally grateful."
